NEW BATCH OF ELEMENTARY, SECONDARY TEACHERS PASS LICENSURE EXAM

THE PROFESSIONAL Regulation Commission announced 8,737 elementary teachers and 12,074 secondary teachers passed the recent Licensure Examination for Teachers.

PRC said 15,696 elementary teachers took the exam, but only 8,737 passed.

It added 2,678 of those who passed were first timers, while 6,059 were repeaters.

Meanwhile, 22,454 secondary teachers took the exam, but only 12,074 passed. Of the passers are 4,652 first timers and 7,422 repeaters.

The exam was given by four members of the Board for Professional Teachers, including chairman Dr. Rosita Navarro.

The top performing school for elementary level which had a passing rate of 90.54 percent is Mindanao State University-Marawi City, with a total of 86 board passers.

Bulacan State University-Sarmiento Campus came in second with 81.94 percent, and Bulacan State University-Malolos placed third with 80.70 percent.

In the secondary level, the top schools with 50 or more examinees with at least 80 percent passing percentage were Cebu Normal University (88.73); University of Mindanao-Tagum (88.46); and Batangas State University (85.71).

Also included in the list were Southern Luzon State University (85.45); Polytechnic University of the Philippines (88.33); and ICCT Colleges Foundation Inc. (81.82).
