NEDA BACKS OPENING OF PHYSICAL CLASSES IN LOW-RISK AREAS

/ 1 September 2021

THE NATIONAL Economic and Development Authority supports the reopening of physical classes in low-risk areas.

NEDA Secretary Karl Kendrick Chua said that schools can gradually reopen in areas with low cases of Covid19.

“Same position. Pilot in low-risk areas and learn from it to gradually expand,” Chua said.

Since the pandemic began last year, the Philippines has not held physical classes and shifted to distance learning.

It is one of five countries that bans face-to-face classes, according to the UN International Children’s Emergency Fund.

The Inter-Agency Task Force said it will review the pilot-testing proposal and make a recommendation to President Rodrigo Duterte for a decision.
