NCR TECH-VOC TRAINER NAMED TESDA TAGSANAY CHAMPION

THE TECHNICAL Education and Skills Development Authority has declared a tech-voc trainer from the National Capital Region as the overall winner of the 2020 Tagsanay Award.

Joel John  Dela Merced of Abest Resource Development, Inc. bested the other candidates, garnering a weighted score of 387.967.

He was also named the Best Trainer in the Online Panel Interview, and Best Trainer in Portfolio during the awarding ceremonies held on October 5, via Zoom.

First runner-up was Donnel Pasalo of Marcos Agro-Industrial School, Ilocos Norte in Region I who got a 373.690 total weighted score. Pasalo was also declared Best Trainer in Written Exam and Best Trainer in Conducting Interview.

Joseph Sab-it Jr. of Baguio City School of Arts and Trades in Benguet was second runner-up with a 361.072 total weighted score. Sab-it also bagged the Best Trainer in Activity-Based Assessment special award.

The institutions of the Top Three Winners were also awarded plaques of recognition.

Special awards were also given to Maribel B. Yang of the Camarines Sur Institute of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Camarines Sur (Region 5) for being the Best Trainer in Enhancement of Training Package, and to Joahnna  Mangyao of the Provincial Training Center – Tubigon, Bohol (Region 7), Best Trainer in Experience Sharing.

TESDA’s National Institute for Technical Education and Skills Development also awarded certificates of commendation to the TVET trainers who conducted and published their research.

“TESDA is truly proud of you. We hope that you will continue to perform excellently in your field. May you also help other trainers improve their craft,” TESDA Secretary General Isidro Lapeña said.

TESDA officials, regional directors and administrators as well as the members of the panel of judges for the online panel interview attended the awarding ceremony.

The Tagsanay Award is one of TESDA’s institutional awards which aims to give incentives to outstanding tech-voc trainers from public and private TVET institutions.
