MORE THAN 6M MINORS FULLY VACCINATED VS COVID19

/ 19 January 2022

MORE than 6 million minors aged 12 to 17 have been fully vaccinated against Covid19, vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said.

“Very encouraging results with 8.49 million or 67 percent already received the 1st dose while 6.88 million or 54 percent are fully vaccinated with primaries,” Galvez told President Rodrigo Duterte late Monday.

Galvez said they aim to inoculate 12.74 million minors belonging to the 12 to 17 age group, and 15.56 million in the 5 to 11 years old bracket this year.

“These would include not only first and second doses, but also booster shots,” he added.

Vaccines made by Pfizer and Moderna were approved by the Philippine Food and Drugs Administration for adolescents.

The Philippines last month approved the use of Pfizer vaccine for kids below 11 years old.

The mini rollout of inoculation for children aged 5 to 11 was set in the first week of  February.
