SENATE President Juan Miguel Zubiri proudly listed the chamber’s accomplishments this year, which include more accessible educational services for the youth.

Zubiri described 2022 as a good start for a productive Senate.

“Since the start of the 19th Congress in July, we have been able to lay down the foundations for an effective and productive Senate, able to support and spearhead our country’s continued efforts to recover from the pandemic, while also looking beyond recovery and into further growth,” Zubiri said.

The Senate leader explained further growth means more accessible educational and medical services, more jobs, better food and utility prices and genuine peace and security for the people.

At the same time, Zubiri stressed that they continued to uphold the proud independence of the Senate and provided checks and balances.

As an example, Zubiri cited the investigation on the procurement of overpriced laptops for teachers.

The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee is expected to release the 197-page committee report on the said probe once the Senate resumes its sessions in January.

“The Senate will build on our good start in 2022. Having identified our priority legislations, and having established the pace of committee and plenary proceedings, we are ready to improve our coordination and we are ready to work harder to address the needs of our people. It is onward and upward from here,” Zubiri said.
