THE DEPARTMENT of Education maintained that a self-learning module telling students to interview someone from the Spanish period was not developed by the agency.

Earlier this week, an SLM on history subject went viral on social media as netizens tried to figure out the activity asked of the students.

The question on the learning material specifically asked the students to “ask a person who experienced the Spanish era.”

“Upon verification by the DepEd Error Watch, it was found that the material in question was not developed nor quality-assured by the Department or any DepEd office,” the department said.

“We are now investigating the matter and are continuously coordinating with all concerned offices to find the source of the said module,” it added.

DepEd also called on learners, parents, and other stakeholders to report issues on learning modules appearing to be produced by the agency directly to their respective schools or through the DepEd Error Watch.

The public can report errors on modules through bit.ly/DepEdErrorWatch or [email protected], or Viber at 0961-6805334.
