LEA SALONGA SLAMS TATTOO DISCRIMINATION ON DEPED MODULE

/ 19 November 2020

INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed singer Lea Salonga took to social media to air her frustration over an item in a self-learning module by the Department of Education discriminating against people with tattoos.

A screenshot of the module, which Salonga posted, showed a question asking students the meaning of having a tattoo.

The answers to the question were (a) pagiging kriminal; (b) pagkaalipin; (c) kagitingan at kagandahan; (d) pagiging mababa ng katayuan sa lipunan.

Based on the answer key, having a tattoo means you’re a criminal.

This angered Salonga and several netizens.

“Okay, someone would need to tell me if this thing is really ok’d by the DepEd. And if so, WHAT KIND OF BS IS THIS???” she said in a post on Facebook Tuesday.

“According to the DepEd answer key, letter A is the correct answer. (For the love of God…) I am THIS CLOSE to getting a tattoo, if only to prove a point,” she added.

Other netizens backed Salonga and aired their sentiments regarding the issue..

“These ‘educators’ need to be educated! tsk, tsk,” one netizen said.

“I guess i shall pick kagitingan and kagandahan then,” another stated.
