LAWMAKERS EYE TESDA TRAINING CENTER IN BACARRA TOWN

REPRESENTATIVES Ria Christina Fariñas and Rudy Caesar Fariñas filed a measure that seeks to establish a Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Training and Assessment Center in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.

House Bill 10336 will create Rang-ay Iti Amin TESDA Training and Assessment Center that will provide technical-vocational training programs to the residents of Bacarra and neighboring localities.

“With the establishment of the TESDA Training and Assessment Center, its programs and trainings will not only be beneficial to students of Grades 11 and 12 but to any interested individual, such as local residents from low-income families, and out-of-school youth, incluing persons with disabilities and indigeous peoples,” the lawmakers said in their explanatory note.

They stressed that technical and vocational education is crucial for economic development.

“Especially now with the rapid developments in the Province of Ilocos Norte, it is more than substantial to establish a TESDA Training and Assessment Center that is par with international standards and boost the socio-economic status of its citizens,” they added.
