LAWMAKER TO DEPED: LIMIT CLASS SIZE

/ 20 June 2022

ACT TEACHERS Party-list Representative France Castro urged the Department of Education to limit the number of students in every classroom during face-to-face classes.

Castro said the DepEd is yet to issue memorandum order on class size. The last memo on the matter was issued before the Covid19 pandemic.

Based on the regulation, the DepEd allows up to 25 students in every Kindergarten class; 45 in Grades 1 to 4 and 50 students in higher levels.

In order to implement physical distancing during in-person classes, Castro said 20 up to 25 students per class should be imposed.

“Kung susundin ang 20 to 25 lang, ‘yun ang better. ‘Yun ang ina-advocate natin, maximum of 35 standard class size,” she said.
