LAWMAKER PRODS COLLEAGUES TO ENSURE ENACTMENT OF NATIONAL YOUTH DAY BILL

/ 31 May 2022

KABATAAN Partylist Representative Sarah Jane Elago on Monday urged her colleagues to pass the National Youth Day bill before Congress adjourns.

The House of Representatives approved House Bill 6456 or the National Youth Day Act on June 1, 2020.

The Senate on May 23 passed on second reading its counterpart measure, Senate Bill 2503, or An Act Declaring August 12 as National Youth Day.

The bill institutionalizes the national observance of the International Youth Day every August 12.

The bill mandates the holding of student and youth-led leadership training and youth empowerment workshops in celebration of National Youth Day in schools, colleges, and universities.

Provincial and local youth development offices are also enjoined to conduct activities to promote the holistic development of the youth.

“May oras pa tayo at kaya pang isabatas ang mahalagang panukala na ito para sa pambansang paggunita at pagkilala sa mga kontribusyon, mga tagumpay, mga hamon na kinakaharap, at mga pagsisikap ng kabataang Filipino. Laban para sa Araw ng Kabataan,” Elago said.
