LAWMAKER EYES CASH ASSISTANCE FOR SHS STUDENTS

/ 3 September 2022

BATANGAS 2nd District Representative Gerville Luistro filed a measure that seeks to create a universal educational assistance program for all senior high school students.

Under House Bill 3106, all Filipino Senior High School students shall receive P5,000 in educational assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

They will receive the cash aid for two years.

Luistro said there is a need to provide cash assistance to students in senior high school to augment the cost of additional two years of education.

“In our government’s effort to ensure that its citizens have greater access to education, there is still a gap which may discourage our young generation and their families to continue pursuing their dreams of finishing their education and be part of our community as effective and active citizens contributing to our progress and nation-building,” she said in her explanatory note.
