/ 9 April 2021

QUEZON province 1st District Representative Wilfrido Mark Enverga has filed a measure that seeks to enhance day care centers.

House Bill 0544 or the proposed Day Care Centers Rehabilitation and Improvement Act aims to create a fund for the program that would improve day care centers nationwide.

House Bill 0544 mandates the creation of a Day Care Rehabilitation and Improvement Council which will formulate and adopt a comprehensive program and guidelines to resolve the shortages of day care centers.

The bill provides a trust fund for which the sum of P50 billion shall be appropriated.

“Filipino children up to six years of age deserve the best care and attention at the family and community levels,” the lawmaker said in his explanatory note.

He explained that day care centers provide programs that ensure the total development and protection of children.

At least 4,570 villages have yet to establish their own day care center.

“Lack of funds has been the perennial problem in our day care system. The government has not been able to provide enough resources and nutrition to support the ever increasing number children n the day care program,” Enverga said.
