NUEVA ECIJA 4th district Rep. Maricel Natividad- Nagaño pushed a measure that seeks the establishment of a Polytechnic University of the Philippines campus in the municipality of Cabiao.

In filing House Bill 6572 or the proposed PUP-Cabiao Campus Act, the lawmaker reminded that the same measure was approved by the House of Representatives in the 17th Congress and was submitted to the Senate.

“This representation is pushing for the passage of this bill into law in response to the needs and aspirations of our students from families who belong to the economically-challenged level of society for accessible quality and responsive education,” Nagaño said in her explanatory note.

Nagaño believes that through the establishment of a PUP in Cabiao, more students will be given the opportunity to have university education.

Under the bill, the PUP campus shall admit students who will avail of short-term technical-vocational courses, and undergraduates within its competency or areas specialization.

House Bill 6572 also mandates PUP to undertake research and extension services in the Cabiao Campus and to provide progressive leadership in its areas of specialization, including the offering of graduate degrees under the PUP Open University System.
