KIDS AGED 5 TO 11 TO GET JABS ON FEBRUARY 1-7

/ 13 January 2022

THE GOVERNMENT is considering vaccinating children aged 5 to 11 on the first week of February, vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said on Wednesday.

Galvez said that the mini rollout for kids below 11 years old will happen from February 1 to 7.

“Planado na po kami sa children vaccination kasi isa ‘yun sa main objective natin, kasi gusto po natin na makapag-open ng classes at ma-lift ‘yung restrictions sa mga bata,” he added.

The government aims to finish the booster vaccination of minors aged 12 to 17 in the first quarter of the year.

“Ang ating 5 to 11, magsimula na rin po tayo this coming first quarter at matapos din natin ang booster by second quarter,” Galvez said.

The Philippine Food and Drug Administration earlier approved the use of Pfizer’s Covid19 vaccine for kids aged 5 to 11.

The vaccines for children will be of lower dosage and concentration than those given to adults.
