THE DEPARTMENT of Health’s Metro Manila Center for Health Development on Wednesday declared January 10 to 12 as Pediatric Vaccination Day in the National Capital Region.

The MMCHD said the campaign aims to provide additional protection to the most vulnerable individuals from contracting Covid19.

“Prioritizing the vulnerable population for Covid19 vaccines saves lives, prevents hospitalization, and avoids the accompanying financial hardships due to severe illness,” it said in a statement.

“So long as the most vulnerable groups are fully vaccinated and the minimum public health standards are consistently practiced at an individual-level and implemented at a community-level, the recurrent surges of Covid19 and its variants will keep slowing down as proven and tested pre-holiday season of the past year,” it added.

Meanwhile, the agency noted that January 6 will be Senior Citizens’ Vaccination Day.

To date, more than 5.2 million minors aged 12 to 17 have been fully vaccinated against the virus.

Vaccines made by Pfizer and Moderna were approved by the Philippine Food and Drugs Administration for adolescents.
