HOUSE PANEL OKAYS TAX PROVISIONS OF BILL ESTABLISHING PH HIGH SCHOOL FOR CREATIVE ARTS SYSTEM

/ 23 November 2022

THE HOUSE Committee on Ways and Means has approved the tax provisions of the measure that will create the Philippine High School for Creative Arts System and College of Medicines in various State Universities and Colleges.

The panel chaired by Albay Rep. Joey Salceda approved the substitute measure for House Bill 931, in consolidation with House Bill 1097 on the establishment of the Philippine High School for Creative Arts System.

The panel passed sections on tax exemption of donations.

Finance Undersecretary Cielo Magno said that the provisions on tax incentives are consistent with the National Internal Revenue Code and the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.

In his sponsorship speech, Committee on Basic Education chairperson and Pasig City Rep. Roman Romulo said that less than two percent of enrollees enter the arts and design track.

“We hope this will encourage more Filipinos to take the arts and design track. We have renamed it to Creative Arts System Act, so that we will be able to develop our full potential in culture, arts, and drama and take our rightful place in the world stage,” he said.
