HOUSE PANEL APPROVES EXPANSION OF NATIONAL FEEDING PROGRAM
THE HOUSE Committee on Basic Education and Culture approved a measure that seeks to extend the national feeding program for undernourished children in secondary schools.
The committee chaired by Pasig City Rep. Roman Romulo approved, subject to style and amendment, the substitute bill to House Bill 5907 authored by Marikina City Rep. Stella Luz Quimbo.
The measure will amend Republic Act 11037 or the Masustansyang Pagkain Para Sa Batang Pilipino Act.
Quimbo wanted parents and the private sector involved in the program, with the latter helping in the provision of meals.
Lawmakers agreed during the hearing that children will be fed nutritious meals worth P27.
