HOUSE PANEL APPROVES ESTABLISHMENT OF NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL IN MATI VILLAGE

/ 27 June 2021

THE Committee on Basic Education and Arts at the House of Representatives has approved a bill that will establish a national high school in Barangay Sanghay, City of Mati in Davao Oriental.

In a virtual hearing headed by Pasig City Rep. Roman Romulo, members of the panel agreed to endorse to the plenary House Bill 5911 authored by Rep. Joel Mayo Almario.

Almario said that he filed the bill in response to the petition of residents of Barangay Sanghay.

House Bill 5911 recognizes the desire of students and parents in the village to have their own high school.

“Education is the key to producing secure, healthy, and productive individuals. The bill, with its immediate enactment into law, should therefore be a step in the right direction,” Almario said.

Under the measure, the Education secretary shall immediately include in the department’s program the operationalization of the Sanghay National High School, the funding of which shall be included in the General Appropriations Act.
