HEIs SURVEYED ON WILLINGNESS TO OPEN FACILITIES FOR VACCINATION

/ 10 April 2021

THE COMMISSION on Higher Education conducted a survey to determine how many higher education institutions are willing to offer their facilities as vaccination sites.

The decision to conduct the survey was made during a meeting held by CHED and the Department of Health on March 30.

De Vera earlier said that six HEIs have partnered with their local government units and offered their facilities as vaccination centers during the first wave of vaccinations.

He added that 30 more HEIs are being considered as vaccination sites.

In the survey, CHED asked HEIs if they have large and open-air facilities, such as gymnasium, covered court and conference hall. They were also asked if they are willing to be endorsed by CHED to the Inter-Agency Task Force.

On Thursday, Senator Richard Gordon said that the Philippine Red Cross set up isolation facilities in three universities in Metro Manila.

These are the Ateneo De Manila University, University of the Philippines and De La Salle University.
