HEALTH CARE PLAN SA SUC PERSONNEL ISINUSULONG SA KAMARA

/ 9 January 2021

ITINUTULAK nina CIBAC Partylist Representatives Eduardo ‘Bro. Eddie’ Villanueva at Domingo Rivera ang panukala para sa mandatory free health maintenance organization plan coverage sa faculty at non-teaching personnel ng state universities and colleges sa bansa.

Sa House Bill 5469 o ang proposed Free Health Card for all SUC Personnel Act, binigyang-diin nina Villanueva at Rivera na nananatiling problema sa ilang SUCs ang tinatanggap na kompensasyon at benepisyo ng kanilang faculty members at non-teaching personnel.

“If the personnel were to suffer from a debilitating illness, limited Philhealth coverage would answer a fraction of the cost of treatment and the rest would still be shouldered out of the personnel’s pocket,” pahayag ng mga kongresista sa kanilang explanatory note.

Iginiit ng mga mambabatas na nakababahala itong maituturing lalo’t ang isang full-time lecturer na nasa katergoyang instructor 1 sa SUC ay kadalasang tumatanggap lamang ng sahod na P22,938 kada buwan.

“The strain of hundreds of thousands of pesos in hospital bills and their meager salaries would definitely take a toll on their standard of living and quality of life. An emergency of this sort may possibily even put them into enormous amounts of debt,” dagdag pa ng mga mambabatas.

Batay sa panukala, pagkakalooban ng health care plan ang bawat faculty member at regular non-teaching personnel ng SUC mula sa HMO na pipiliin ng Board of Regents.

“A free HMO coverage will not only increase the job satisfaction among SUC personnel, it will also ensure that a healthy pool of faculty and non-teaching personnel will be able to continously and rigorously teach and shape the minds of younger generations,” dagdag pa nina Villanueva at Rivera.
