GROUP SUBMITS LIST OF VICTIMS OF UNAUTHORIZED BANK WITHDRAWALS

/ 26 January 2022

THE TEACHERS’ Dignity Coalition submitted a list of teachers who reported unauthorized online transactions in their Landbank accounts.

The group disputed Landbank’s statement that the cases were “isolated.”

At least 20 teachers in the National Capital Region, Region III, Region IV-A, Region IV-B, Region V and Region VI reported losing money ranging from P900 to P200,000.

TDC chairperson Benjo Basas said that the group has sought the help of the Department of Education.

“We are seeking the assistance of the DepEd until this issue is resolved in the most favorable manner. Clearly, the victims here are the teachers and the LBP must not conveniently pass the blame on them,” Basas said.

The Landbank had said that the teachers were victims of phishing.

The DepEd said Landbank gave assurances that cases of unauthorized withdrawals are properly handled and given priority.
