GRADUATES URGED TO STRENGTHEN CHRISTIAN VALUES

/ 4 September 2023

SENATE Majority Leader Joel Villanueva urged graduates of the Philippine Christian University in Dasmariñas, Cavite to continue strengthening their Christian values.

“While everything around us changes constantly, the more we should stick with our Christian values,” he said at the 82nd Commencement Exercises of the university at the PICC in Pasay City.

Villanueva said that this is the reason why he filed Republic Act 11476 or the GMRC and Values Education Act in the 18th Congress which are now being considered as essential part of the K to 12 curriculum.

RA 11476 replaces the Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao curriculum and mandates the creation of a separate subject for GMRC in Grades 1 to 6 with the same time allotment as other core subjects.

Likewise, it mandates the integration of GMRC in the daily learning activities in the kindergarten level.

The law seeks to Inculcate among the students the concepts of human dignity, respect for oneself, and helping others
