TO ENCOURAGE more Covid19 vaccination among children, the government is considering setting up vaccination centers in schools.

Secretary Vince Dizon, presidential adviser on Covid19 response, said that National Task Force Against Covid19 chief Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. gave instructions to make coronavirus jabs available in all schools.

Dizon also noted that there are enough supplies of reformulated vaccines for the pediatric age group 5 to 11.

“We have about 10 million remaining doses in stock so we have enough vaccines, and these can be easily deployed to all our schools for our children,” Dizon said during the prerecorded Talk to the People of President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday.

The Philippines has used Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for pediatric vaccination.

Earlier, the Food and Drug Administration issued an emergency use authorization for Sinovac’s Covid19 vaccine for children aged six and above.

Data from the Department of Health showed that about 9.9 million minors have been fully vaccinated against Covid 19 while some 2.7 million children aged 5 to 11 old have also been immunized.

The government aims to vaccinate more than 39 million youngsters aged 17 and below
