/ 29 July 2020

MAKATI-BASED school iACADEMY, together with the PwC Philippines conducted recently free online workshops for students who aspire to be accountants.

PwC Philippines, which is committed to delivering quality in assurance, advisory, and tax services, shared its expertise to incoming college students through a four-part webinar series where workshop attendees have learned the “language of business” and discover the common concepts related to accounting.

“We are thankful to PwC for letting us share with our students their expertise in accounting. In this way, our students will get to hone their analytical skills and get a glimpse of accounting concepts at an early stage,” Vanessa Tanco, iACADEMY’s President and CEO, shared.

At present, iACADEMY is set to offer BS Accountancy program under its School of Business and Liberal Arts. The program prepares students based on theoretical and practical mentorship that will guide them in analyzing and recording business transactions.

Offered with Philippine-based and internationally acclaimed partners including PwC, the course provides students with knowledge and skills on assurance and audit services for financial planning and reporting, tax-related and advisory services, organizational decision-making, among others.

Marvin Madrigalejo, one of the workshop’s facilitators and works as a senior manager of PwC Philippines’ Client Accounting Services unit, shared that the workshop series have taught students on how accounting is used as a business language for all stakeholders.

“One of the important things that students will learn from these workshops is the analysis of business transactions and the basic book of accounts that businesses use for accounting purposes. It’s good to know that we are currently holding these workshops for beginners so they would be immediately introduced to the concepts of accounting even before they enter college,” Madrigalejo said.
