THE DEPARTMENT of Health office in Central Visayas urged parents to have their children vaccinated against Covid19 as the government prepares to implement full resumption of face-to-face classes.

“We’re calling on everyone to bring their children to our vaccination sites. Because based on the pronouncements of DepEd, we may be shifting to full face-to-face classes,” Dr. Van Philip Baton, DOH-7 Program Manager of Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases, said.

“Although it is not mandatory, we always emphasize that vaccination provides an added layer of protection,” he added.

The DOH-7 plans to immunize almost two million children between the ages of five and 17.

Only about 800,000 children in the said age group have received their full dose of the Covid19 vaccine.

The Health department has allowed Covid19 booster shots for minors ages 12 to 17.
