DICT PROMOTES ONLINE DISCOURSE ON GENDER-RESPONSIVE GOVERNANCE

/ 7 March 2021

THE DEPARTMENT of Information and Communications Technology launched an advocacy campaign to promote online discourse on gender-responsive governance and leadership on National Women’s Month Celebration 2021.

The advocacy campaign is called #AgendaNiJuana with an overall theme: “We Make Change Work for Women, Sama Samang Pagsulong sa mga Agenda ni Juana.”

DICT Secretary Gregorio Honasan II said the agency is committed in implementing initiatives to promote gender-responsive governance.

“Your DICT is committed to the implementation of initiatives designed to promote gender-responsive governance and leadership, allowing all citizens — regardless of their gender — to participate in the national agenda,” he said.

The month-long activity includes the conduct of various activities, starting with the Kickoff Activity to be held on March 8 during the International Women’s Day.

The kickoff activity features key speakers who will discuss various topics on gender equality, women’s role in the national agenda and the challenges met during the Covid19 pandemic, as well as women’s political representation.

DICT also organized other activities on Health and Financial Wellness Week, webinars regarding women’s role in the ICT industry, Digital Literacy Trainings, and a Freelancer’s Forum.

“By giving women a chance to aspire and create their own future without unfair limits, we are also helping our nation grow and prosper for the benefit of all. Indeed, there is no doubt that our Juanas will continue to grow as a potent social, political, and economic force in this country moving forward,” Honasan ended.
