DEPED’S FEEDING PROGRAM SERVES MORE THAN 6M STUDENTS

THE DEPARTMENT of Education has fed more than 6 million students amid the Covid19 pandemic under its School-Based Feeding Program.

In a report, the education department said it provided milk products to 3,136,951 learners and 3,517,807 students from Kindergarten to Grade 3.

DepEd said it exceeded its target of 1,775,349 students.

The nutritious food products were distributed in 34,771 schools while 33,732 schools distributed fresh milk to their students.

For School Year 2020-2021, the SBFP has an allocation of P5.97 billion.

The feeding program aims to address hunger, improve nutritional status, provide nourishment for growth and development, and help boost the immune system of learners.

It is in compliance with Republic Act 11037, otherwise known as the Masustansyang Pagkain para sa Batang Pilipino Act signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on June 20, 2018.
