DEPED TO TEACHERS AND OTHER PERSONNEL: BE NEUTRAL

/ 15 December 2021

THE DEPARTMENT of Education again told its officials, teaching and non-teaching personnel to remain nonpartisan in connection with the elections next year.

“DepEd would like to remind our officials, teaching, and non-teaching personnel not to engage in electioneering and conducting partisan political activity in relation to the forthcoming 2022 national and local elections,”  the agency said in a statement.

The Constitution prohibits government personnel from engaging in any electioneering and partisan political activity to ensure that civil servants are focused on public service.

DepEd Order No. 48, series of 2018 (Prohibition on Electioneering and Partisan Political Activity) also bars officials from using their position or authority to influence teaching and non-teaching personnel under their supervision of jurisdiction to support any preferred candidate or political party.

“Guided by these policies, we call on our personnel and stakeholders to champion a clean, safe, and fair elections in 2022, for our children and for the future of this nation,” the agency said.
