THE DEPARTMENT of Education said it will amend its previous order on mask wearing inside the classroom to follow Malacañang’s order on the voluntary use of face masks indoors.

“We will follow [Executive Order No.] 7 and issue an amendatory [department order],” DepEd Spokesperson Michael Poa told reporters.

The move means that students who will attend face-to-face classes will be allowed to remove their face masks inside the classroom.

“Schools may immediately implement optional masking indoors pursuant to EO 7,” Poa added.

President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. issued EO 7, making the use of face masks voluntary.

Under the said order, the use of face mask will still be mandatory in medical facilities and public transport.
