THE DEPARTMENT of Education aims to resolve in 20 or 30 days the administrative case filed against its current officials suspected to be involved in the overpriced procurement of laptops for public school teachers in 2021.

“Based on the latest update given to me, we are hoping for a resolution within 20-30 days, subject to additional pleadings/motions that may be filed by the parties,” DepEd spokesperson Michael Poa said.

“As to liability, please bear with us, but let’s just wait for the resolution,” Poa added.

He said that even before the Senate started its investigation into the laptop procurement, the DepEd already took steps to streamline procurement processes.

“As you know, our bidding activities are all live-streamed. Further, a strand was created solely for procurement, with an Undersecretary and an Assistant Secretary focused solely on procurement activities,” Poa said.

“On the recommendations for charges to be filed, we already have administrative proceedings ongoing which will be resolved soon. On recommended charges of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee to be considered by the Ombudsman, DepEd will cooperate as to documentation that might be requested, if needed,” he added.
