DEPED NEAP, GLOBE TO HOLD TEACHER-PARENTAL ENGAGEMENT SERIES

/ 21 November 2021

THIS November, Globe, in partnership with the Department of Education National Educators Academy of the Philippines, will launch the 4th Professional Development Series for Teachers on Parental Engagement to help foster cooperation among teachers and parents in the children’s learning journey. Sessions are scheduled for November 17, 19, 24, and 26.

For this series, teachers will be taught how to create an operational plan for home-school partnership engagement. They will also learn how to engage other partner educators to become E-nfluencers and E-ducators.

The program was recognized by NEAP as part of Learning Delivery Modalities Course 2 for Teachers and is also included as a supplementary professional training of teachers nationwide to support relevant topics not covered by NEAP’s regular training.

Being a strong advocate of 21st-century learning, Globe has lined up a modified series of trainings under its Global Filipino Teachers program.  It covers digital literacy, parental support on digital learning, responsible online behavior, effective 21st-century approaches to early language literacy, and psychological first aid.

“Globe continues to support DepEd’s thrust of delivering quality education and training to teachers and learners nationwide. GFT is specifically designed to help our teachers meet 21st-century education standards and to remain effective even under the current circumstances.  We believe that the program is even more relevant today with the urgent need to do distance learning,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe Chief Sustainability Officer and SVP for Corporate Communications.

The first two sessions will be devoted to “Parental Engagement: Exploring Parental Engagement Practice in the School.” Part one will discuss parental involvement in students’ learning and the obstacles teachers often face when dealing with parents. The second session will focus on the challenges parents face in supporting remote learning and the strategies for boosting their relationship with the teachers.

Meanwhile, the last two webinars will talk about “Parental Engagement: Building a Strong Culture of Parent-School Partnership.” The third session will hone in on the six keys to a successful partnership between teachers and parents and evaluate parent engagement strategies. The fourth will look into ways that teachers can support the parents.

The first three series of webinars were conducted last December, February, and May. An average of 2,000 teachers attended the live sessions done via Zoom and Facebook. The webinars recorded more than 70,000 Facebook views.
