AS PART of the celebration of the Mental Health Week, the Department of Education conducted a learning session on Mental Health for its personnel.

The education agency emphasized the importance of mental health.

With the help of the Bureau of Human Resources and Organizational Development-Employee Welfare Division and the Bureau of Learner Support Services-School Health Division, the learning session expanded the knowledge and understanding of the DepEd personnel about the importance of mental health and related services.

Dr. Joffrey Quiring of the Philippine Psychiatric Association discussed the state of mental health in the Philippines. He was followed by Prof. Erickson Amion of the Psychological Association of the Philippines who tackled the importance of mental health in education.

Disaster Risk Resduction Management Service Director Ronilda Co, meanwhile, discussed the challenges in promoting mental health programs.

“We are hoping that this learning session can help us. It is just the start and we are hoping that in each office you can champion wellness. Alagaan ang ating mga sarili kasi tayo ay mahalaga. We hope you are convinced in that, and we hope that you feel it in your heart how important and significant you are regardless whether people tell you or not,” Co said.
