THE DEPARTMENT of Education expressed gratitude to lawmakers and President Rodrigo Duterte for supporting the agency’s Early Language, Literacy, and Numeracy program, stressing the department is proactively reinforcing initiatives to equip learners with fundamental literacy and numeracy skills to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education.

“In this challenging endeavor, we are grateful for the continued support of our lawmakers and the President for our Early Language, Literacy, and Numeracy program, evident with the release of P20 million to cover the Region-wide Training on the Adoption of the Blended Delivery Model for Teacher Professional Development,” the department said in a statement.

DepEd thanked Senator Christopher ‘Bong’ Go for endorsing and facilitating the proposal and President Duterte for the speedy approval of the budget.

With P1.25 million allocated for each region, the ELLN support funds will strengthen supervisors, school heads, and teachers’ capability to teach and assess reading and numeracy skills of learners.

It shall also be utilized for procurement of learning materials and subsidy for communication expenses to enable participants to attend online training and school learning action cells.

Furthermore, the fund will sustain the management and implementation of school-based mentoring and learning partnership program.

“The department believes it will take a nation to educate a child. With this budgetary boost in the first key stages of learning, we took another step in providing quality education to every Filipino learner,” DepEd said.
