THE DEPARTMENT of Education thanked the local government units and its stakeholders for supporting and respecting its stand against the unnecessary cancellation of classes and the use of schools as venues for events that are unrelated to learning.

“Your support affords uninterrupted class sessions for our learners, and helps our teachers avoid unnecessary make-up classes, which pose as an additional burden to their teaching load,” it said in a statement.

“The Department of Education aims to not only bring learners back to school, but also institute measures to maximize learning recovery,” it added.

Even as it remains steadfast in its pursuit to provide accessible and quality basic education for all, the department sought the help of its partners.

“We, however, cannot do this alone. Therefore, we enjoin everyone to help our learners recover from learning losses and suspend classes only during public emergencies, severe weather disturbances and calamities,” it said.
