THE DEPARTMENT of Education lined up major plans and projects that aim to improve the delivery of services in the agency and boost the whole education system.

In a meeting with partners at the Asian Development Bank headquarters, Undersecretary for Finance Annalyn Sevilla said that DepEd’s goal to provide quality education requires collaboration and support from partners and stakeholders.

Sevilla said that among the reforms the agency is eyeing is the digitalization of finance processes as this will prioritize scholarships including capacity building on loan management and financial literacy programs for DepEd personnel.

Meanwhile, Undersecretary for Administration Kristian Ablan asked the agency’s partners to help with digitization of forms, enhancement of existing systems and indemnity insurance for public schools.

Undersecretary Gina Gonong said that priorities include the strengthening of literacy and numeracy programs, review of the Mother Tongue-Based Multilingual Education, digitizing of national assessments, strengthening of inclusive education program and inclusive teaching approaches, among others.

Other projects and programs that need support from partners are the upscaling of the National Educators’ Academy of the Philippines, the school-based feeding program, learner rights and protection mechanisms, mental health program, learner and youth program development, the farm-to-table nutrition project, and the construction or rehabilitation of classrooms, building disaster-resilient schools, retrofitting of classrooms and electrification programs.
