DEFENSE CHIEF ATTENDS PLM ROTC ASSEMBLY

/ 15 December 2021

DEFENSE Secretary Delfin Lorenzana was the guest of honor when the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila held a special assembly of Reserve Officers’ Training Corps cadets.

The school has 1,305 enlisted ROTC Cadets for Academic Year 2021-2022.

Lorenzana sought to inspire the young cadets in pursuing their military training as part of the requirements under the National Service Training Program.

In his speech, the Defense chief stressed the importance of ROTC duties.

“May purpose ‘yan — not to make your lives miserable but to follow orders. Anybody who cannot follow orders is not fit for command,” Lorenzana said.

“Kapag kayo ay gumraduate na sa ROTC, you will be part of the reserve force. We thank you very much for doing this to serve the country,” he added.

The Cabinet official stressed that being part of the country’s reserve force is more than just getting ready for combat.

“Ang pinakamalaking trabaho ng reserve force natin is disaster management,” Lorenzana said.

He urged the cadets to nurture their idealism.

“Instead of blaming others or the government, do something to change the situation,” he said.

PLM President Emmanuel Leyco thanked Lorenzana for taking time to address PLM’s cadets.

“We are grateful for the visit of Secretary Lorenzana to the PLM campus and to meet our young cadets. Their training will surely prepare them to be reliable reserve personnel to serve our nation’s interest,” Leyco said.
