CREATION OF PUP CALAMBA CAMPUS PUSHED
A BILL seeking the creation of a Polytechnic University of the Philippines campus in Calamba, Laguna has been filed in the House of Representatives.
Calamba lone district Representative Charisse Anne Hernandez Alcantara filed House Bill 2363 that aims to establish PUP-Calamba, which will offer free tertiary education in the municipality.
Hernandez said that Calamba lacks public colleges that is why students go to nearby municipalities and cities to get college education.
“Others who do not have the means to afford the transport would have to content themselves to finish only up to high school education,” Hernandez said.
If passed, the measure will allow the campus to offer technical-vocational, undergraduate and graduate courses.
PUP already has four campuses in the province located in Sta. Rosa, San Pedro, Biñan and Calauan.
