CHED TO RELEASE GUIDELINES ON TAPPING MEDICAL STUDENTS AS VACCINATORS

/ 13 September 2021

THE COMMISSION on Higher Education will release guidelines for medical students tapped as vaccinators in the government’s inoculation program against Covid19.

CHED Chairman Prospero De Vera III on Saturday said that the guidelines will be submitted to the Inter-Agency Tasked Force Against Covid19 this week.

“Tapos na po ang guidelines ng CHED at Department of Health para payagan ‘yung mga estudyante, 4th at 5th year medicine and nursing, at ‘yung mga graduate na hindi pa nakakatapos ng licensure exam na papayagan silang vaccinators,” De Vera said.

He added that the issue was thoroughly discussed with several higher education institutions offering health-related programs.

“Nakausap na po natin lahat ng schools. Sila po ay susuporta sa kanilang mga estudyante para mapabilis po natin ang pagbabakuna sa ating bansa,” the CHED chief said.

Vince Dizon, National Task Force against Covid19 deputy chief implementer, earlier said that medical students will be mainly deployed in areas where Covid19 infections are high.

Madelene Grace Sosa, president of the Association of Philippine Medical Colleges, Inc., also requested medical school deans and directors “to encourage and motivate” students to help in vaccinating Filipinos.
