THE COMMISSION on Higher Education will erect peace monuments in 25 state universities as a commitment in promoting peace education.

CHED Commissioner Ronald Adamat revealed the plans during his speech at the unveiling ceremony of the country’s first peace monument at the Siniloan Integrated National High School in Siniloan, Laguna.

The peace monument is a project of non-governmental group Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light.

“The objective behind establishing the peace monument in the school grounds of SINHS is when the students gather and hold the flag ceremony, the peace monument will serve as a reminder to them that they will be taking the role of peace messengers of this country,” John Rommel Garces, chief manager of HWPL Philippines, said.

Also present in the unveiling program were Siniloan Mayor Rainier Leopando, Laguna State Polytechnic University President Dr. Mario Briones, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority-Laguna Provincial Director Dr. Cariza Dacuma, Tesda-Quezon Provincial Director Gerardo Marasigan and One World Foundation and Bukid ni San Pedro Calungsod President Atty. Raul Ancheta.
