/ 5 June 2021

THE COMMISSION on Higher Education has partnered with the Quezon City government for the inoculation of education frontliners against the coronavirus disease.

CHED said that 300 employees from its central office were inoculated on Thursday, June 3.

Among those given jabs were senior citizens and those with comorbidities.

The vaccination is part of the continuing celebration of Higher Education Day and the yearlong celebration of the Commission’s 27th foundation day.

“The Commission commends Mayor Joy Belmonte for recognizing the critical role played by our frontline workers here in CHED, especially with the ongoing health crisis, and its effort to bring the vaccination in our Central Office to ensure a systematic vaccine roll out,” CHED Chairman Prospero De Vera III.

“CHED is one with the whole nation in fighting Covid19. Ang vaccination po, you’re not doing it for yourself. You’re doing it for your family, for your grandchildren and the people around you,” De Vera said.

CHED Commissioner Aldrin Darilag also commended the city government for including education workers in its vaccination campaign.

“I am extending my sincere gratitude to the Local Government of Quezon City for considering the CHED frontliners in this vaccination program entitled: ‘Protektado sa Bakunang Sigurado’,” he said.

Darilag volunteered as one of the vaccinators to impart a message that the pandemic can be surpassed through bayanihan, cooperation, and adherence to strict health protocol.

CHED employees were also grateful for getting the vaccine.

“Thankful ako na dito sa CHED mismo ginawa ang vaccination. Naramdaman kong pinapahalagahan ng Komisyon ‘yung security, safety at welfare nating mga CHEDans. Hindi na natin kailangang lumayo at pumili nang mahaba para matamo natin ‘yung proteksiyon through this vaccinaton,” Sheila Jalbuena, Supervising Education Program Specialist of the Office of Programs and Standards Development, said.

“Hindi mahirap pumila, hindi mainit, at least dito sa CHED, kampante tayo at safe,” Susan Tibigar, Administrative Assistant 3 of the Administrative, Financial and Management Service, said.
