/ 21 May 2022

THE CATHOLIC Educational Association of the Philippines expressed hope that Vice President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio will address the educational crisis when she assumes her post as education secretary.

“If indeed she will be the one to run the department, we hope that she could address the education crisis we are facing,” CEAP Executive Director Alan Arellano said.

Arellano asked Duterte-Carpio to prioritize the crisis in the education sector created by the Covid19 pandemic.

He expressed hope that  Duterte-Carpio will hold a dialogue with education stakeholders soon.

“We are willing to be part of that process,” Arellano said.

He added that CEAP is ready to help draw policies should the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps be made mandatory.

“If this becomes part of the curriculum, we will help formulate the appropriate values that the youth should learn to be godly, patriotic, humane and environmentally friendly,” he said.

“Her popularity may be an asset to influence the young people to be better Filipinos,” he added.
