PRESIDENT-ELECT Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. on Monday lauded thousands of teachers and other poll workers for ensuring a peaceful, honest and credible elections.

In a statement, Marcos described as “awe-inspiring” the heroism and sacrifice shown by the teachers and poll workers.

“Talaga namang pinahanga ninyo kami nang husto. Ang ipinakita ninyong pagmamalasakit at sakripisyo ang isa sa gagamitin naming inspirasyon ni Vice President-elect Inday Sara Duterte para paglingkuran nang maayos ang ating bansa,” Marcos said.

“Nakita namin ang inyong hirap at sakripisyo. Iyong pagtitiyaga sa kabila ng mainit na panahon, pagkapuyat, pagod, pawis at panganib. Wala po tayong magamit na isang salita upang maipaabot namin ni Inday Sara ang taos-puso naming pasasalamat sa inyo,” he added.

The Department of Education earlier said that over 640,000 teaching and non-teaching personnel served as poll workers in the May 9 elections.

Of this number, 319,317 served as members of the Electoral Boards, 200,627 as EB support staff, 38,989 as Department of Education Supervisor Official,  87,162 as DESO staff and 1,717 as members of the Board of Canvassers.
