ANDI EIGENMAN, XIA VIGOR RAISE FUNDS FOR CHILDREN

/ 24 June 2021

Celebrity mom Andi Eigenmann and child actress Xia Vigor celebrated their birthdays in June by raising funds for children.

Supporting Save the Children Philippines’ 40 years of lifesaving work for and with children, Eigenmann’s fundraiser will support health and nutrition services for kids while Vigor’s will provide learning materials.

Child malnutrition in the Philippines is the 9th highest in the world with 1 in 3 children stunted or too short for their age. Through Save the Children’s Project NURTURE, donations from Eigenmann’s fundraiser will help in monitoring the nutritional status of children 0-2 years old. This period is considered as a critical window for their growth and development. Damage caused by malnutrition at this stage could be irreversible.

“For my birthday this year, I would like to do things a little differently. Being parents, our children are our priority, and I would do everything I could to give my children a bright future — and all the other kids, they deserve the same,” Eigenmann said in her video as she made a pledge to help children survive.

Xia, Save the Children ambassador, vowed to help young learners. In 2020, 2.73 million children were not able to enroll according to the Department of Education. Donations collected will support Save the Children’s Project ARAL (Access to Resources for Alternative Learning) and will provide children with materials that they can use either in distance learning or in school when the situation allows.

“I’m turning 12 years old this year and what I really want for my birthday is to be able to share the gift of learning with other children. I admire kids who are studying hard despite the challenges of this pandemic, so I hope to be able to help them through this,” Vigor said.

The fundraisers are part of Save the Children’s “I Pledge to Save the Children” campaign that aims to raise funds for programs that will help children learn, survive, and be protected every day.

Individuals and groups can join by simply visiting Save the Children’s giving platform, select the program they wish to support, and set up their own fundraising pages.

Other celebrities who made a pledge are Save the Children Ambassadors Liza Soberano, Katarina Rodriguez, and Ria Atayde as well as Pia Wurtzbach, Bianca Guidotti, Carla Lizardo, Adrian Lindayag, Vern Enciso-Lim, and journalist Angela Lagunzad, among others.
