ALLOWING ONLY VAXXED STUDENTS TO ATTEND F2F CLASSES NOT DISCRIMINATORY — CHED

/ 3 December 2021

THE COMMISSION on Higher Education maintained that allowing only fully vaccinated college students to attend limited face-to-face classes is not discriminatory.

CHED chairman Prospero De Vera III said that the protocol will keep students, faculty and staff safe.

He pointed out that unvaccinated students may still choose flexible learning modes.

“Only the fully vaccinated teaching and non-teaching personnel should participate in the conduct of the limited face-to-face classes. As to students, only fully vaccinated tertiary students should participate in the conduct of the limited face-to-face classes,” CHED Executive Director Cinderella Benitez-Jaro said

De Vera said that regular Covid swab testing will have to be conducted if unvaccinated and vaccinated students are allowed to attend physical classes.

“You know why you can’t join the vaccinated and unvaccinated? Kapag pinayagan mo pareho mangangailangan ka ng testing requirements. SIyempre ite-test mo ang mga hindi vaccinated, ang tanong dIyan, kailan mo ite-test? Kada kailan mo gagawan ng follow-up test? Sino ang gagastos ng test?” he said.

The Inter-Agency Task Force has allowed the conduct of limited face-to-face classes in all degree programs in areas under Alert Level 2.
