ALBAY PROFESSOR READY TO TEACH INTEGRAL CALCULUS IN THE ‘NEW NORMAL’

/ 1 September 2020

DESPITE the ‘self-paced’ learning being implemented for college students, a professor in Albay assures that his students will learn Integral Calculus as he engages them online.

Guillermo Molina Jr. III, 57, professor of Integral Calculus in Ligao Community College, said the subject may seem complicated but he has come up with ways to make the students understand the topics, with the help of his son Justin.

Being a student himself, Justin knows the struggles that students encounter. He initiated to shoot videos of his father.

“My father had limited knowledge regarding the use of social media as a medium of teaching and I suggested some things to do,” the professor’s son said in an interview with The POST.

Molina, eager to teach his students this school year despite the coronavirus pandemic, adapted to the ‘new normal’ in education.

They will continue creating videos until face-to- face classes can be allowed.

“Given the present situation, he tried to adapt with the use of social media to reach out and teach the students,” Justin said, noting that Integral Calculus may not be easily understood through readings and thus requires to be taught by an instructor.

Molina’s students appreciated his actions and were grateful to him.

They also urged teachers to be understanding in times of crisis as everyone tries to cope with the present reality.

“Be patient, adaptive and understanding to the students since not all have the same capabilities to adapt the new normal process in education,” they said.
