/ 27 May 2022

ACT TEACHERS Representative France Castro on Thursday thanked teachers and the party-list’s other supporters and vowed to remain the genuine voice of teachers in Congress.

Castro also promised to continue and step up the fight for salary increase; adequate support for education; combat the spread of disinformation, historical revisionism, and denialism; and protect the rights and welfare of teachers and the Filipino people.

The lawmaker stressed that they are inspired by the strength and perseverance of teachers who continue to stand up for the rights of fellow educators, their students and the Filipino people.

“Our teachers are at the frontlines in combating historical revisionism and denialism are faced with threats of red-tagging when they teach their pupils critical thinking,” Castro said.

“We will continue to advance policies for and by our teachers and the people. We will reject anti-people policies of the incoming administration and register our dissent in Congress,” she added.
