9.9K MINORS VACCINATED VS COVID19 — DOH

/ 26 October 2021

THE GOVERNMENT has vaccinated 9,928 minors aged 12 to 17 with comorbidities as of October 24, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said on Monday.

She described the pediatric vaccination a success, noting that only 10 minors experienced mild adverse effects after getting their Covid19 jabs.

“Naging maayos ang ating mga proseso. ‘Yung mga reaksiyon ng ating mga kabataan mostly were minor — there were anxiety related reactions. Meron kaming naitalang sampu na nagkaroon ng reaction,” Vergeire said in a press briefing.

“So far, wala pa po tayong serious adverse reactions that were noted. But of course, we are still monitoring these children. Katulad po ng sabi natin hindi natapos ang monitoring namin pagkatapos ng bakunahan,” she added.

Vergeire gave assurances that minors who get vaccinated will be monitored “para makita natin if there would still be other reactions na mangyayari.”

On Saturday, vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said that Covid19 vaccination of children will be rolled out nationwide on October 29.

The Philippines started giving out jabs to minors on October 15.
