52K KIDS AGED 5 TO 11 INOCULATED VS COVID19

/ 13 February 2022

A TOTAL of 52,262 children aged 5 to 11 have been vaccinated against Covid19, the Department of Health announced on Saturday.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said only four kids experienced minor adverse effects after they were administered with Pfizer vaccines meant for their age bracket.

The common complaints were rashes and headaches.

“All of those were minor, mayroon pong nagpantal, mayroong sumakit ang ulo, at ito naman ay agad nating na-manage, at nakauwi naman po ang ating mga kabataan,” Vergerie said.

The health official noted the pediatric inoculation will be deployed to populous regions such as Central Visayas and Davao.

“We are expected to roll it out this week, tayo ay mag-uuna siyempre doon sa malalaki nating lugar sa Region 7, Region 11, at sa iba pa. After next week, we will further roll it out to other areas,” she said.

The Philippines kicked off last February 7 the vaccination drive for kids below 11 years old.

The government aims to vaccinate more than 39.41 million youngsters aged 17 and below.
