3M STUDENTS ENROLL IN CALABARZON

/ 8 September 2020

OVER three million learners from kindergarten to senior high school have enrolled in schools in Calabarzon, according to the Department of Education Region4A.

DepEd 4A Regional Director Wilfredo Cabral said that of the 3,022,000 students, more than 2.9 million enrolled in public schools while 90,600 registered in private schools.

Cabral said that the number of enrollees increased because of the postponement of the opening of classes from August to October.

From August 15 to 31, 58,000 students were added to the list, he said at the Sulong Calabarzon program held last week.

Cabral added that more than 120,000 students from private schools have transferred to public schools. Some of the reasons for the migration are high tuition and the closure of 67 private schools hard hit by the coronavirus disease pandemic.

Cabral said that the regional office continues to coordinate with the local government to address the needs of schools such as additional teachers.
