AROUND 380,000 teaching and non-teaching personnel of the Department of Education have been vaccinated against Covid19.

DepEd plans to inoculate some 1.2 million teachers and support personnel across the country.

“Noong mga nakaraang buwan, nakapagsimula tayo nung July mga 20% lang ng ating mga personnel sa buong DepEd mula isang milyon po ay nabakunahan pero, ngayon as of this time  ngayong Agosto, abot na sa 40% na ng buong personnel ng Kagawaran o 380,000 na teachers and non-teaching personnel ang nabukanahan na po,” Education Undersecretary Allain Pascua said.

The department earlier said that teachers will be vaccinated against Covid19 should President Rodrigo Duterte approve the proposal to resume physical classes.

It said vaccination will be for a select number of personnel since face-to-face classes will initially involve only 120 schools nationwide that will be chosen based on Covid19 risk.

However, the DepEd is pushing an institutional approach to the prioritization of teachers in the government’s vaccination program.
